Thanks Skippy. I'm working on getting clearance on my schedule to do this. I've only ever played disc golf, so I probably won't do all of the events but I'll give it a shot. Is registration the day of or do we need to take care of that ahead of time?

Re:Santa Cruz Open Overall Tournament - 2007/08/10 17:36
You can simply show up and signup at the event. I try to keep it very low key as the $20 entry shows. Check in is at 9:30 at the 1st tee at DeLa. You'll be amazed how well Disc Golf skills transfer to the others skills of overall. Accuracy will come easily. Distance too however working on 'pure' distance technique is a bit different than a golf power stroke but it will improve your technique. Maximum Time Aloft and Throw Run Catch are a bit esoteric but the throwing skill is not foreign. DDC and Freestyle are the only ones that don't really transfer that well.

see you at the tourney.

Re:Santa Cruz Open Overall Tournament - 2007/08/23 13:49
Some people have been asking what time Distance starts. It'll be about 2pm on Saturdy 8/25. Call me cell to make sure as we'll be going through event progressions. 831-454-6306.

Freestyle has been moved to Seabright Beach on Sunday starting about 1pm.

If you're on the fence about this tourney then please know that it's a fun and supportive atmosphere. And it's totally cool. Come on and check it out even if it's just to watch.

Santa Cruz Open Overall Day 2 Results - 2007/08/25 22:25
Here's the results of day 2 of the Santa Cruz Open. Of special note is the Distance results. A number of local disc golfers jumped into the mix to round out the field. There were a number of personal bests despite having only a moderate breeze. The old East Foeld at UCSC seems to be getting smaller and smaller. Andrea Lemann, Tom Ford, Skippy Jammer had personal bests. Also of special note is the rise of a new phenom is Chris Edwards. He's a UCSC student and golf pro with endless talent. He scored 11 in accuracy with no warm up, no prior experience and no idea what the discs did in his first effort of Accuracy. He also ripped off an incredible Distaance throw of 176 meters using what is basically a golf stroke.

Here's the results
