Jason- point taken, but...
My whole idea about playing with a limited number of discs is that doing so will make me a better player through practicing skills needed to throw one disc many different ways. Then when I get ALL my discs at my disposal, I can throw an even greater variety of shots and thus be better prepared... I hope

Interesting that the topic of minimizing discs has come up. Before the first Tag Night, I told Understable Ed that I'd like to introduce some different things over time and one of them was limiting the number of discs you could use for the round. Not gonna happen tonight so don't worry about it..
I've always been an advocate of "less is more" when it comes to disc selection. Natron and I discussed that approach some years ago when Crazy John Brooks was here for the Masters Cup. I don't think Crazy ever took more than four or five discs out with him no matter what the stakes.
At the most, you need:
Something to putt with An approach disc (which could be your putter) Long understable/roller Long stable Long overstable
One of the problems with having a lot of discs in your bag is the slight variance between them. If you have three T-birds in various stages of decay, it's more likely the throw could go awry due to the minute changes you might think you have to make. Does your hand recognize the plastic?
It's far better to be able to control a disc you know well.
Likewise, I think it's important to master throwing putters and midrange discs more than drivers. When you have to use those discs to approach, it's usually going to require more control. Everytime I practice driving on a soccer field, I start off throwing putters. I'll take at least 60 or so drives with putters before I start pulling out the midrange/drivers.
Anyway...tangent...

Hi Dave et al.,
Yes, 5 discs sounds about right . That's all I can fit in my fanny pack when I run! But dropping down to one or two would be tough--and very informative. Jon hit it on the head: it's nice to know what you can do with a particular disc in a variety of situations. And while this varies from what Rob Harding once told me ("I have the same exact throw--I just vary the disc."), I do think it's a good idea to test the limits of a disc, and using only one or two for an entire round will certainly accomplish that!
I'd like to make it up tonight. Gotta check with the boss and see what she says
Adios, Steve-O

Stan swears he's only playin' with three discs tonight... if I can remember correctly (long night-golf 'round at Harding's last night... ouch). Thanks for catching me as I fell all over the course, dude!
I might give it a shot... I love playin' with just three discs.
My choices would be:
Stable Valk (170g) Candy Cobra (MAXg) Omega SS (MAXg)
Yo, better watch out, I got number 40 up for grabs tonight!
Side note: That frickin' Steady Ed Tourney last weekend was super fun. AND, I finished under par. YEY

I think I'll bring my hole bag... Who knows when I might need that champion panther. It's only 12 discs anyway, not too overboard.
All that is if I play. If the rain keeps going my wife will want a ride home instead of riding her bike.
Hoping for dryness...
