Re:Trash Dumping - 2005/12/13 13:25
I researched the aforementioned subject and found the following.
In September of 2004, the City of Santa Cruz issued a pamphlet entitled Neighborhood Improvement Services and Programs. On the item of illegal dumping it states:
"Illegal dumping of trash on private or public property or on streets or in alleys should be reported to the Public Works Sanitation Division at 420-5542. Be prepared to provide: Location of dumping, Vehicle license and description, Suspect description, Type of material dumped."
The brochure also notes that there is a Working Group consisting of field-level supervisors and staff responsible for implementing projects and work programs and tactical responses to neighborhood issues and concerns.
It looks to me like there is help available for us here. Is there some DDGC member who is aware of the particulars of our agreement with waste management and would be willing to make this call?

Good research, Gabe. I'd volunteer to make the call, but I already have a lot on my plate at the moment.
In regard to a gate, I met with Dave Rosener of Parks and Rec this afternoon to discuss getting some logs moved to prevent access to Hole 6 (where someone did donuts last week). Dave indicated that a gate is also in the Parks and Rec idea base (although I am guessing that it hasn't been budgeted).
In regard to the log moving, Rosener said he would get logs placed along the road on Hole 6 and he will also move the "OK Corral " from Hole 20, moving the logs to just along the road and maybe along the top of the cliff on the right side of 20. Should make the play of the left pin position easier. I told him that we didn't need that much overflow parking...

Ed, If I may add to your request of blocking access to the fairways. I would suggest that the city or whoever is doing the mulching try and block the access where they came in along hole 11's fairway. Last I saw it was just a cable and we all know what the 4 wheelers can do to that field. I would hate to see all their hard work wasted because of an oversite like that. CJ

Good point CJ. That is where Rosener and I started. I suggested that something should be done with the cable access. I think that he is going to check on it and maybe upgrade to chain??

hi ed,
i agree with you and SeaJay, in that, i believe there are other areas along hole 11 which could use some log blockage; and putting logs along the road for 27 & 6 would not only serve to inhibit offroad access it could serve to help catch some of the runoff when it rains.
looks like there are some new redwood logs in the parking lot, that could be used.
also, i attempted to look through some of the very stinky trash that was left, looking for some identification. i found a 'medical card' with someone's name on it, but, was overcome from the stinkiness and just left it on top of one of the 'bags' of trash....cannot remember the name.
