Hole 17's sleeve - 2006/02/14 19:57
I was checking out the sleeve for hole 17 today and found that someone had put a long stick in the sleeve. It appears they stuck it in to play the hole as a pole hole. Well it also appears it had been hit a few times. The stick has broke off in the sleeve and will not come out. Nice work!!! So before the basket can go in for #17 it needs to be drilled out or something. Just thought I'd share my findings today.
Cheers

Are we planning on using this for the Master's Cup? If so, I'll gladly bring my drill and some tools and take care of it before the tourny. Almost any amount of work is worth taking a few more shots at aceing that one.

I don't know for sure but I'd be willing to bet we will play 17 in the Mcup. That was the idea, to put the basket in sometime soon so we can practice it plus add one more hole to our short course. It appears people are playing it anyway plus we walk right by there and we have the basket.

Heya.

Same issue on the 24 long position.

I had someone make me a wood tapping screw on a steel bar to try and tap the broken stick and pull it out, but had no luck.

Last year when 18 short had this issueI was able to borrow a large auger (sp?) to fix that problem. Unfortunately I no longer have access to that tool.

Perhaps the club may want to invest in one?

Stan if you have one, and get out there, can you check 24 as well?

I believe I gave all the extra sleeve caps to DT? I'll check to see if there are more? Other wise Scott @ DGA can get them.

I was just thinking I would bring a cordless drill out with a 1" bit or so and make swiss cheese of the wood chunk. Then I'd be able to pull it out by breaking it up. Has this been tried before? Am I better off trying to locate an auger?

Hi Stan.

I have tried that, it doesn't work so well, as you need to get the debris out of the sleeve at the same time.

I also had a selff tap screw welded to a pole figuring I could tap into the wood and lift it out, but that didn't work either

The auger works well.

*Also some very unthoughtful people(s) put a stick back into the sleve of 17. Perhaps it could use a sleve cover and a sign explaining why putting a stick in the hole is so inconsiderate.

Thanks for finding the code to kill safari error message. (it's still there)

Hopefully the admin (which I don't think is Marty any more?) will get it implemented soon?
