Masters Cup - Course Layout[s] - 2006/04/11 18:23
In regards to what players can expect the course layouts to comprise, Kevin Crews and I met with Dave Rosener from the City Parks & Rec yesterday to discuss whether the back holes will be available for play.
The outcome and goal of our discussion is to allow the holes to be played, however, it will require that the area have time to 'dry out', first. To this end, we cannot foresee whether the weather will be in our favor, and if we cannot open this area, we will provide the amount of holes to play [27], that are stated on the registration form. At least for the first two rounds. We are at the whim of mother nature.
Should we be allowed to play this area, we still need to be respectful of the work which is ongoing. Therefore, we will place a roped off path, that all will need to follow, allowing for derivation from the path to play your lie, and returning to the path. The hope is to have a limited impact on the restoration project, allowing for the newly planted grass to survive.
It should also be noted, that the age and skill [Intermediate and below] protected divisions will play a shorter course on Sunday. This will involve going to hole 17 after completing hole 12, eliminating holes 13 through 16. Those who play in these protected divisions will therefore 'NOT' be eligible for invitation to either the USDGC or AM Nationals. This is subject to change, however, if you are planning on playing in a protected division, do not plan on an invitation to either of the above.
I realize that this statement will probably generate some negative banter, but, I want to provide the best possible scenario[s] of what to expect.

Thanks for the heads up Marty. I agree that it's a bummer, but I'd rather miss out on a few holes than lose the whole course. Maybe Mother Nature will cooperate with us for at least one of the weekends. http://www.santacruzdisc.com

Thanks for the update Marty.
I assume the Master's Cup layout will have every hole in the long position. When can we expect the baskets to move? The sooner the better...

It looks like they've already moved. 1 is in the 3rd position (just above the short, right of the long). 5 is long. 6 is at the street. etc, etc... -sanders

Hi Marty,
On the table that has the course layout for the AMs, I noticed hole 5 had "x"'s in it for Friday and Saturday--was it not played? With hole 8A and 26A, it looks like there were a potential 29 holes, with par at 87... But based on the scores, it looks more like only 27 holes were played, so which of the others was dropped?
Just curious, since overall the leaders shot +1 for the weekend.
One down, one to go! Cheers, Steve

Hole 5 was removed on Friday and Saturday. 13-16, 17 and 26a were played on Friday. 26a was removed from that rotation Saturday. On Sunday 13-16 was not in play, 5 and 26a were in play.
