2008 Worlds - 2008/08/11 09:43
Santa Cruz and NorCal is well represented at this years worlds. As I take breaks from work throughout the week I thought I'd write up some updates from the scores and from the messages I'm getting from the people I know that are attending.
I'd like to wish Nate, Jimmy, Merle and Ed good luck. I'm probably missing someone else, but I'll catch them in my future posts.
Here are the scoring links. They'll be updated sporadically throughout the day.

Jim Hagen has a stellar 1st round setting himself up for contention early on by shooting an 8 down 49, only 3 strokes off the lead of his pool. His Pro Masters pool includes heavy hitters like Stan McDaniel (lading with 46), Jim Oates(57), Al "Sug" Schack (50) and Dean Tannok (51). NorCal players Roger Cansler (53) and Mat Kelly(55) are also in his pool. Mat is disappointed in his first round, but knows there is 6 more rounds of golf to play. Lot's of time.
It's off to Oshtemo for their next round this afternoon.
The scores for the Grandmasters are also posted. NorCal's own Kenny Lee is tied with Gregg Hosfeld for 1st place with many big names within strokes of them. Our own Merle Witvoet is only 4 strokes off the lead. They play the same course again this afternoon. http://www.santacruzdisc.com
