my bad once again, I guess I didnt understand about a turkey shoot you were speaking of at delay. thought you were just speaking of a 'turkey shoot' in general, not at delay specific.

Hello.
It's true I did the "new" turkey shoot the last 6 years. Typically giving Turkeys to each player in 1st place in Am & Open (4 birds) plus cash. Some years varried depending on sponosrs
I understand that there was a Turkey shoot previous to those? Where it was I believe it paid Turkey for 1st, Ham for 2nd, and baccon for third? Ask the OGs.
Anyway, Alfie got me inspired to do it some years back, it used to be on Thanksgivng, but that got tough. People travel and so forth, So it became the week before so you could actually thawe and cook a bird if you won it.
Plus you don't want to conflcit with the UFO event, formerly run by Magilla, which is T day weekend, and sanctioned.
This changed everything and we got many more teams from around NorCal.
If someone would like to step up and do it this year, by all means. GO with it, I used to make a little flyer with a guy chasing a trukey with a shotgun. I always thopught it would be cool to work a prize in for scoring turkeys durring the event (3 birds in a row) and the course is usually all short for the event, weather surpringly good too, but for one real windy one.
I would recomend spliting the Am & Open days, do Ams Sat, Open Sunday as the fields are so big now.
Maybe charge a little more? And enhance the event. (The turkeys we're usually paid and donated privately by nice people like CJ & Kroutch)
Get the Turkeys early, check the Adds some local chains usually do a 2 for 1 right about now.
Have fun. I would love to play it maybe run a leg if no one wants to do it, but I can't do the whole thing myself anymore, it got to big.

I wish I could step up and run an event at Dela, but the logistics wouldn't work out for me. I have to drive down from El Cerrito (north of Berkeley) to get down to the course. It's definitely worth the drive, but I just don't have as much time to get down there as I used to.
If the Dela Turkey Shoot happens this year, do you think it would be the Sunday before Thanksgiving? Or the Sunday after? It seems to me that you brought up two points -- one that some people couldn't make it if it were on Thanksgiving weekend, and the other point is that there are so many people who would want to play that you could split it into two days. It seems to me that if you held a doubles tournament on the Sunday following Thanksgiving it wouldn't be so crowded as to justify breaking it into two days.
Another conflict to make note of is that the San Francisco Disc Golf club is having a players meeting/random-draw doubles on Sunday November 20th--this is to be played on the 18 hole course in Golden Gate Park!
Either way, I'm interested in playing pick-yr-partner doubles at Dela.

No matter what day you pick, there's always going to be a potential conflict with another event (unless it's the Master's Cup or Faultline).
So - here's the deal.
It's ON. I'll try to come up with some posters by Saturday morning so we can publicize it at the course.
Format: Pick your partner $20 entry fee (easier since it's $10 per team member) 100% cash payout Turkeys for the winners of each division Pro AM1 AM2 Women's AM Master (There must be a minimum of three teams in each division - otherwise they will be consolidated)
And I'm thinking it would be fun to add a "wrinkle": All odd numbered holes "best shot" - all even numbered holes "worst shot".
Sign in from 7AM to 8:30 - round begins at 9-ish Saturday November 19 (so as not to conflict with SF's doubles)
I thought about the two day Am/pro separation, but I figure a lot of the guys who play on Saturday would end up playing on Sunday anyway so we might as well put them all together.
