Support Disc Golf at PINTO LAKE - 2007/04/03 10:24
Tom Schot will be going to the Board of Supervisors meeting on Monday, April 9th, at 7:00PM to get their authorization to install a NEW DISC GOLF COURSE (!) at Pinto Lake in Watsonville.
Here's how you can help.
1. Attend the meeting to support Tom in his bid to get this course built.
2. Write an email to Ellen Pirie of the board of supervisors, whose district Pinto Lake falls in.
Ellen's email is: ellen.pirie@co.santa-cruz.ca.us
This is a great opportunity to expand disc golf in Santa Cruz County and lessen the impact at DeLa.
If you are a resident of Watsonville, you're support would be especially helpful. Let Ellen know that you are a Watsonville resident!

It would be a great help if as many Watsonville residents as possible show up. If you know any disc golfers that live in Watsonville, or heck just anyone that lives in Watsonville let them know about the meeting. The more local support local the better. http://www.santacruzdisc.com

Yeah I would love to see a DG course at Pinto Lake, I thought he already got the Green Light!, but guess that isn't so? As for the Monday 9th April 07 meeting, where will it be located ?

Good question Dolan.
The meeting is the County Board of Supervisors. Their chamber is on the fifth floor of the County Building at 701 Ocean Street in Santa Cruz. It's the large building next to the River between Water and Soquel.

This Monday (April 9th) Mr. Tom Schot will speak to the Board about the proposal for a disc golf course at Pinto Lake in Watsonville. As a resident of Aptos and an avid disc golfer, I urge you to support this project. As you may already know, disc golf is a growing sport, especially here in Santa Cruz County. DeLaveaga Disc Golf Course regularly draws over 100 players per day. The combination of a healthy activity (walking up to 3 miles), enjoying a relatively undisturbed natural setting, and the company of friends is an excellent recreational opportunity for residents of all ages and abilities.
Adding a new course will help meet the growing demand for more opportunities to play disc golf. Similar efforts are being supported by the City of Monterey near the Del Monte Shopping Center. I, personally, would take advantage of a course in Watsonville, and I imagine other area residents will do the same.
Tom Schot is a respected member of the disc golf community (Hall of Fame inductee) and a recognized leader in course design. I have personally spoken to him about the project and I am excited by the prospects.
I urge you to support this project.
