Attack of the Yellow Jackets - 2007/06/04 11:08
Me and the crew were attacked by ankle biting Yellow Jackets down by the Fridge on 12. I had to give up a new KC Roc, rather than getting a sixth bite. After we finished up on 27, there was another nest disturbed by a dead tree near the #2 tee pad. More bites, no one got stung. The city/county doesn't manage the swarming pests, but can we? They have yellow jacket traps at OSH I think. I can pick a few up if that's okay. I don't want to disrupt the natural habitat, and if trapping some yellow jackets is a bad thing, I'll put up with avoiding their nests. -sanders

the other two nests i know of are on the crest of the mound between the short and long basket locations on hole #5, and on the right side of the fairway on #7, between the short and long locations.
as far as I'm concerned regarding yellowjackets . . . kill 'em all.

Trapping them should be fine. Go ahead and get the traps. I will make sure it's OK with the City. If not, we'll remove them later. Keep your receipt and we'll vote to reimburse you at the next club meeting (Tuesday, June 12, 7:00 p.m., Sweet Spot.)
