Re:faultine dates - 2007/09/19 17:59
Hi Guys,

I have a suggestion--likely not popular --but I'll throw it out there:

On Sunday have the Open division start, then Masters, then Women, and finally GM. Once the Open guys are done, cards can be sorted, scores added up etc. and they can start the Final 9 as soon as a few holes are clear (say 1, 2 and 3). Yes, this means there could be some GM players still on the front 9 while the Final 9 starts, but this way there won't be a lot of down time for everyone waiting for the Final 9 to finish out. My goal here is to effectively get everyone done with as little sitting around as possible. Maybe I'm still chapped about the NorCal Championships and the pace on Sunday...

Yes, not everyone would be able to follow the Final 9--some players will still be finishing their 3rd round.

Anyways, just an idea. May not be an issue if enrollment is low and flow is high.

Anyone know when the tournament pin positions will be in place/set for the first day?

Cheers,
Steve

I believe that I will move the baskets on Thursday evening or Friday morning. There won't be very many changes. It'll still be mostly short for the entire tourny.

Lots of thanks and praise to Russ and the volunteers (Tom, Chuck, Rob, Marty et al.) for hosting a great event! With the exception of the first round on holes 9 and 10, the rounds went very smoothly and took about 4 hr. That seems like a world speed record for DeLa!

And congratulations to locals nabbing 3 of the top 4 spots: Stan Pratt 4th, Don Smith 3rd, and Jon Baldwin playing the role of the Winner!!

I heard some folks talking about changes, like starting later. I really liked the early start, but going as late as 9 AM would not be a bad thing. For non-locals, there may be a lot of time on the road that day, and avoiding Sunday afternoon traffic is a bonus.

The sandwiches were great--I'd vote for them again.

I also really like the fact that several AMs stepped up to play, making the Open field huge. Very cool.

Good job to all.
Cheers,
Steve
