NorCal vs SoCal Challenge 2008 - 2007/12/29 15:24
Does anyone know how the teams are selected? Who will be representing us? Is there a web site with info? What is the format?

Inquiring minds want to know....

Cheers,
Steve

Hey Steve. The team is chosen by Mr. Travers. As far as I know there is no formal method behind picking the team. The last couple of years he ends up calling our own Mr. Harding a few days before the tournament. Rob ends up rounding up enough players at the last minute.

I would have enjoyed going one of these years, but I need more than a day or so notice to plan for it.

In the past, it used to be the top Norcal player(s) in each division were invited, based on end of the year Norcal points. I believe Socal uses this method. It is a good method, as it brings on the best for a "challenge".

I'm aware of this simply because there were some years that Am women weren't included, so I pushed for that to happen.

Yay, Katie. Cause our Am women always kick their Am womens butts .

I wish it had been like that when I was one of the top Am players. I had wanted to go for 2 years and even made sure I had the time off to do it, but never got the invite despite being one of the top Am men players.

I think one of the main problems is that the person or persons in charge of getting the team together doesn't take advantage of the new resources available. Such as the norcallseries.com website and email in general.
