Re:Black Mouse - 2008/03/12 14:35
Matt - I've been playing there pretty regularly on Sundays and the oak isn't too bad. I'm not hypo-sensative to it, but I haven't gotten any nor do I remember having to dodge it.

Adam - The map you have linked looks accurate up to about tee 15 or 16. I think that's where the local knowledge comes into play. However who ever has been manicuring the course lately has done a nice job around holes 15 and 16 so you should have no problem fiding the tees and baskets at the end of the course. Oh, and Sundays hasn't been very solitudish, so don't count on having the course to your self...not that you would want to!

My goal for this weekend is to hit Black Mouse and CSUMB. (Maybe if I have time and/or arm strength left over after CSUMB, I'll check out Don Dahvee too.) But I don't yet know which days I'll be where...

(Yes, I know, heresy, not playing DeLa while in Santa Cruz.... but I really don't like crowds and my weekday mornings are booked!)

Re:Black Mouse - 2008/03/14 17:53
I just got back from playing two rounds at Black Mouse; I finished -2 and -1, with an ace -- my third ever -- on #10 in the first round.

FYI, there are currently 15 baskets, not 16. Basically, the numbers on all the baskets from #5 onward are too high by 3, assumably because of those 3 southern holes that were pulled years ago. And some guys who were out there said one hole on the north side was pulled because it was sort of dangerous to have people throwing over other fairways -- but that hole was never really part of the numbering scheme, which is why the rest are consistently off by 3.
