Re:Work Day - 2005/05/17 13:38
I mowed on #2, #3 and #4 with one of the B&B mowers last night until I ran out of gas. That is...the MOWER ran out of gas. I have to say...that red B&B mower runs and cuts niiiice. But the spark plug has a missing cap so the spark plug wire kept coming off every time I ran it into some brush. I got down on the hillside as much as I could, but only to the point where I felt safe. The rest will have to be whacked.

The grass on the hill to the right on hole 4 has grown back up considerably.

Russ said he'd drop off some gas/oil mix for the whackers and the club whacker this afternoon on his way to a gig in San Jose. In fact...that stuff should be up there right now...

I'm going to take off about a half hour early from work (3:30) and try to get one of the whackers and get going on those hillsides.

I got the middle(s) of 18 19 yesterday. 19 could maybe use a little weed whacking, and that little tiny patch just before the green of 22.

The mowers and gas are in the clubhouse unlocked. Please be careful with the grey mower as it is missing the rear guard and kicks up a lot of sticks and such. I'll try to get a cover for it.

I got the green on 4 and the back side of 3 and some of the side of 3 yesterday.

Both Dave T and Russ did some weedwhacking. I think Dave got hole #2 done and Russ cleaned up 18, 19 and around the parking lot.

Dave T says we are done for now, but, we will probably need to do more as summer comes upon us....

As john said...thanks to all who give their time to make the course playable...

Re:Work Day - 2005/05/18 11:57
I finished up some whacking this morning (Wed). Both sides of the road are done the whole way, tee at 8A, left side of 17 and behind basket along trail to 18, left sides of 18 & 19, left sides of 7&8, some touches on 11, and tee area on 12.

My whacker is not running well, and one of the club ones died. I took it to Stoodley's for repair. So we have one good whacker, but I'm not sure what else needs to be done. If someone wants to do more, let me know and I'll bring it up or do it tomorrow.

And I have Dave Levan's mower.

It's looking SWEET. Thanks to all who helped. This rain should make it sparkle.

I'm glad to hear the event went well. The course was as pretty as I have ever seen it and I can't wait to get down there this weekend to enjoy it.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to do more work down there but the facts that I was working off poisons from a till dawn going away party in Aptos the night before and had to drive back to Martinez forced an early retirement.

But, I appreciated the water and hotdog and am enjoying sporting my new Dela ringer tee.

See you on the course!
